Uncertainty looms over Shakib’s return

Getting a green signal from the government, Bangladesh's star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan had started for home from USA. He was scheduled to land in Dhaka on Thursday night (October 17).

But for the sake of security, Shakib is not returning for the red signal of the government and BCB. He got stuck in Dubai. He is currently there.

Shakib has been asked by higher authorities to wait for further communication before boarding the flight to Dhaka from Dubai. He has been asked to be there for security purposes, Shakib himself told the media. He expressed frustration over the incident.

It was learned that Shakib has yet not decided whether he would be returning to the USA.

Already, Shakib had a long transit in Dubai. Even though he reached Dubai on Wednesday, his flight to Dhaka from there is around 5PM (local time) today. It is expected to reach Dhaka after 11PM on Thursday.

His return comes ahead of Bangladesh's two-match Test series against South Africa in Mirpur from October 21. Shakib Al Hasan was scheduled to join practice session on Friday (October 18).
