Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain affirmed on Saturday that the historic diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia are founded upon deep mutual trust, shared values, and enduring cooperation across bilateral domains.
Delivering his address as chief guest at a trade dialogue titled "Towards a Stronger Bangladesh-Malaysia Partnership"—organized by the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) at a luxury hotel in Banani—the minister highlighted the growing momentum in bilateral engagements. Highlighting the recent high-level diplomatic outreach, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain stated:
"The longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and Malaysia is deeply rooted in mutual trust and confidence. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's recent official visit to Malaysia has added significant vitality and strategic depth to the fraternal ties binding both nations. Our business communities and entrepreneurs have cultivated strong cross-border networks over decades, and we now urge the Malaysian government to facilitate wider market access for high-quality Bangladeshi commodities."
The health minister emphasized the necessity of broadening trade frontiers, diversifying export baskets, and encouraging joint investment ventures across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing sectors.
Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shuhuda Othman reinforced the sentiment of historical brotherhood between the two Southeast and South Asian nations, observing that the Prime Minister's productive state visit created fresh avenues for economic integration, workforce collaboration, and bilateral investment flows. Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Administrator Md Fazlul Haque, alongside prominent business delegates, diplomats, and industry leaders, attended the conference to explore enhanced trade synergy.
