Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury
Finance Minister and BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury stated that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has historically rescued the nation whenever it fell into deep turmoil, asserting that the party will once again lead the country out of its prevailing challenges. He made the remarks as the chief guest at a public rally organized at the Old Railway Station in Chattogram city on Tuesday afternoon to commemorate the party's 48th founding anniversary.
Addressing the gathering, Khosru emphasized that whenever Bangladesh found itself in deep setbacks, BNP stepped up to rescue the nation, adding that overcoming current difficulties requires unified national effort. He noted that dedication to the nation does not require ministerial or parliamentary positions, but rather genuine patriotism and commitment to party ideals. Highlighting the foundational vision of late President Ziaur Rahman, Khosru recalled his teachings on national sovereignty, political discipline, production-oriented governance, and mobilizing nationalist forces. He stated that under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, the government has adopted bold economic programs, demonstrating the courage to deliver an ambitious budget amid challenging economic times, and promised its comprehensive implementation. Emphasizing that public problems are viewed collectively rather than through individual or partisan lenses, he reaffirmed that public expectations remain the primary responsibility of the newly elected government and parliament formed through extensive sacrifices. He also urged citizens to take a proactive stand against narcotics, extortion, and land grabbing by assisting law enforcement directly, while remaining vigilant against hostile forces seeking to obstruct national development.
The rally was presided over by Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Convener and Chattogram-8 lawmaker Ershad Ullah, with Chapter Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman moderating the proceedings. The event was also addressed by BNP Central Organizing Secretary and Chattogram Zilla Parishad Administrator Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, Central Assistant Organizing Secretary and State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Chattogram-10 lawmaker Sayeed Al Noman, and Central Committee Member Shamsul Alam, among other leaders.
