The Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday (September 27) evening issued a formal clarification stating that a long-standing property dispute involving 35 kathas of prime land was the underlying cause behind the recent vandalism at the media studio of popular content creator Salman Muqtadir in Dhaka Cantonment's Namapara. Addressing reporters at the Bangladesh Secretariat, Home Adviser Salahuddin Ahmed categorically dismissed allegations that the incident was a targeted political assault or systematic extortion campaign directed by any mainstream political organization. The government stressed that the dispute represents a private legal battle between commercial property developers and rival claimants.
According to the official investigative report compiled by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, the contested real estate parcel in Namapara had been mired in competing civil ownership claims between a private property development corporation, New Guinea Properties, and associates linked to a retired high-ranking military officer. On the night of the incident, an armed group allegedly mobilized on behalf of one claimant entered the contested boundary to forcibly assert physical possession, demolishing several makeshift corrugated-tin structures erected across the plot, which included Muqtadir's leased content creation studio.
Adviser Salahuddin Ahmed confirmed that specialized armed police patrol units rushed to the scene immediately upon receiving a distress call via the national 999 helpline, preventing further escalation and detaining three individuals from the location. Forensic ballistics teams recovered spent cartridge shells, iron crowbars, and sharp indigenous weapons during crime scene sweeps. The home adviser noted that while property owners possess legal avenues to contest land titles through civil courts, resorting to hired muscle to enforce private evictions constitutes a severe criminal offense.
Metropolitan police detectives confirmed that while Salman Muqtadir had released public social media videos recounting the trauma and property losses suffered during the violent intrusion, he had not formally registered a specific First Information Report (FIR) at the Cantonment Police Station. Police authorities encouraged the content creator and affected property tenants to file formal criminal complaints to facilitate legal indictments. In the interim, law enforcement has stationed a static police picket around the contested plot to avert further clashes.
Home Adviser Salahuddin Ahmed stated on Sunday, "The state will not permit land grabbers or private militias to settle civil property disputes through violence and terror." He assured the media that all three detained suspects have been remanded in judicial custody and that ongoing forensic probes will identify the masterminds who contracted the armed enforcers. He affirmed that the interim administration remains committed to safeguarding the property rights and creative freedom of every citizen without fear or favor.
