In an uncompromising nationwide administrative mobilization to guarantee foolproof safety, communal harmony, and uninterrupted festive fervor ahead of the country's biggest Hindu religious festival, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued stringent security mandates on Tuesday (September 29) night across all 64 districts. The comprehensive directive instructs divisional commissioners, district magistrates, superintendents of police, and operational commanders of the armed forces to establish an impenetrable, multi-tiered defensive dragnet around more than 33,000 registered Durga Puja mandaps nationwide.
According to the operational blueprint disseminated by the Police Headquarters in Dhaka, round-the-clock security architectures have been activated from Mahalaya through Bijoya Dashami. Over 250,000 personnel—comprising Bangladesh Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and Ansar-VDP—have been deployed alongside regular armed forces contingents in sensitive frontier and urban zones. Every individual puja mandap committee has been statutorily mandated to install high-definition closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras with uninterrupted battery backup, designate dedicated volunteer fire wardens, and enforce perimeter access controls.
The home ministry's circular emphasizes that special joint security cordons will remain permanently stationed across key historical temple complexes in the capital, including the Dhakeshwari National Temple, Ramna Kali Mandir, Banani Puja Mandap, and Shankhari Bazar. Dedicated cyber-surveillance units under the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) and police cybercrime wings have instituted 24/7 digital monitoring sweeps across social media platforms to instantly detect and neutralize inflammatory rumors, deepfakes, or communal provocation aimed at disrupting public tranquility.
Interfaith leaders, civil society dignitaries, and representatives from the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad commended the transitional government's proactive security posture. Community leaders highlighted that the coordinated deployment of military liaison officers and executive magistrates at upazila control rooms provides immense psychological reassurance to minority communities across rural char belts and border districts, demonstrating the state's resolve to uphold an inclusive, pluralistic national ethos post-uprising.
Addressing senior law enforcement commanders during an emergency security review session in Dhaka on Tuesday night, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Khan warned that saboteurs and communal agitators will face swift, merciless legal retribution. Addressing field commanders, Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Khan stated, "Durga Puja is a glorious national celebration of unity and peace; anyone attempting to incite communal discord, desecrate shrines, or harass devotees will face the fullest, unyielding wrath of our security forces without exception." He confirmed that mobile strike teams and bomb disposal squads will remain on standby nationwide through immersion ceremonies.
