State Minister for Information Yasser Khan Chowdhury
State Minister for Information Yasser Khan Chowdhury has issued a stern warning against financial extortion and corrupt irregularities in the distribution of government Family Cards in Nandail, Mymensingh, asserting that immediate and uncompromising legal action will be taken against anyone found demanding money from beneficiaries.
The State Minister delivered the warning in a public notice posted to his official Facebook account on Friday afternoon (October 2).
In his post, Chowdhury wrote: "If I receive any complaint from Nandail that someone has collected money in exchange for a Family Card, I will take strict legal action against the responsible individual. Therefore, consider this a direct warning to all concerned. Beware. However, I believe nobody from our Nandail would engage in such corruption."
The explicit public stance generated a sense of reassurance among local residents and civil society members, who noted that vigilant oversight from the top will deter middlemen and ensure that genuinely impoverished families receive their rightful state entitlements without exploitation.
Commenting on the directive, Nandail Upazila BNP Member Secretary Enamul Kadir remarked that the State Minister maintains a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and drug abuse. Kadir added that Chowdhury has made it unambiguously clear that no one will be shielded if they attempt to misuse his name or authority for illicit gains.
