Hafez Jubayer Ahmad Tashreef has expressed formal regret and tendered an apology on Facebook Live after facing severe public criticism for making inflammatory statements that appeared to incite taking the law into one's own hands, delivered during a protest over the slapping of a madrasa teacher in Tongi, Gazipur. Following an intense backlash across social media platforms regarding his remarks, he went live on his verified Facebook page on Sunday (October 25) to seek forgiveness.
Clarifying his position during the Sunday night video message, Tashreef stated that he has always respected the rule of law. He asserted that if allegations are legally proven, the accused madrasa teacher should certainly face appropriate legal punishment; however, he maintained that he was never in favor of vandalizing an entire educational institution or assaulting others over the offense of a single individual.
Acknowledging that certain comments were spoken in the heat of the moment during an agitated state, Tashreef admitted that his statements had hurt many people. He tendered an earnest and sincere apology to all who felt aggrieved, affirming his commitment to stand by the people in support of the nation and Islam.
Recently, following an untoward incident surrounding a madrasa in Tongi and the subsequent slapping of a teacher, a video clip containing his aggressive speech circulated widely across social media platforms, triggering extensive debate, condemnation, and public discussion.
