Ending a long wait, the government has published the final gazette notification for the 45th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination, confirming the appointments of 1,702 candidates across various administrative cadres. The Ministry of Public Administration issued the formal statutory regulatory order late Wednesday night (October 14).
According to the issued notification, the newly appointed cadre officers, selected from among provisionally recommended candidates, must formally join their respective cadre-controlling ministries or divisional designated offices by November 1. The gazette explicitly stipulated that failure to join service within the stipulated timeline will lead to the presumption that the candidate has declined the appointment.
The recruitment process for the 45th BCS commenced on November 30, 2022, following the release of the primary job circular. Nearly 346,000 job seekers submitted applications to participate in the competitive examination. On May 19, 2023, a total of 268,119 candidates sat for the preliminary screening test, out of which 12,789 successfully qualified.
Subsequently, the written examinations were conducted between January 23 and January 31, 2024, yielding 6,558 successful candidates. Following the completion of the viva voce (oral examination), the Public Service Commission (PSC) published its final recommendation on November 27, 2025, recommending 1,807 candidates for appointment into various state cadres. Following comprehensive background verifications and medical board fitness evaluations, the Ministry of Public Administration published the final appointment gazette for 1,702 candidates from the PSC's recommended roster.
