Former law minister Anisul Huq, former information minister and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) president Hasanul Haq Inu, former Supreme Court justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, and former Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam were brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday afternoon for mandatory pre-remand medical evaluations.
Under the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and escorted by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the four detainees arrived at the hospital at approximately 5:30 PM. Following standard medical examinations in the emergency department, they were escorted back into police transit at 5:50 PM.
According to CID sources, the court granted investigators remand to interrogate the accused in connection with two separate murder cases filed with Badda and Mirpur police stations during the July mass uprising. The health checks were carried out to fulfill legal requirements before taking them into physical custody for questioning.
CID Inspector Nasir Uddin Sarker confirmed that conducting a health check-up is mandatory prior to taking any accused on remand, adding that a second medical examination will be conducted after the interrogation concludes before they are produced before the court.
