The High Court on Tuesday ordered an investigation into allegations of recruitment irregularities at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) project.
An HC bench comprising Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice Fatema Anowar issued the directive.
The court also instructed the formation of a high-level committee, to be led by the Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, to conduct the investigation and submit a report within two months.
Adv Masud Ahmed Sayeed Shibly, representing the petitioner, informed journalists that the officials in question – Miraj Al Mamun, Rabiul Alam, Al Mamun, AKM Nazmul Hasan, Mushfika Ahmed, and Abu Kaiser – were appointed in Rooppur plant based on government recruitment circulars issued in 2019 and 2023.
According to the allegations, the appointed individuals lacked the necessary work experience for their roles.
The lawyer further stated that the recruitment was conducted through an opaque process that requires investigation into potential corruption and irregularities.
