Engineer Ramanath Pujari has joined as Managing Director (MD) of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Private Limited (BIFPCL), which operates Rampal coal-fired power plant.
He officially assumed charge on Tuesday (February 24), according to Anowarul Azim, Deputy General Manager of Rampal plant.
Before taking on the new role, Pujari served as Project Director and Executive Director of Rampal Maitree Super Thermal Power Project.
In that capacity, he was involved in overseeing plant operations, enhancing reliability and efficiency and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
During his tenure, he contributed to increasing power generation and supervised various local social development initiatives as well as township development activities within the project area.
Born in 1968 in India's Odisha, Pujari earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) degree from the College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar, and an MBA from Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon.
He also completed advanced programmes at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, and Harvard Business School in the United States.
Pujari began his career with NTPC in India in 1989 and brings nearly 36 years of experience in the power sector. He previously served as head of NTPC’s 2,980-megawatt Sipat Power Station in Chhattisgarh, India.
