Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC launched its Khidmah Credit Card under the UnionPay International (UPI) brand on Tuesday at Islami Bank Tower.
The card allows travelers to China for tourism, education, or medical purposes to pay various fees, make purchases via QR and POS machines, and withdraw cash from ATMs. With endorsements, cardholders can also conduct transactions in foreign currencies across approximately 183 countries worldwide.
Md. Omar Faruk Khan, Managing Director of Islami Bank, attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, while Chai Huiming, UPI’s Head for Southeast Asia, was present as a special guest. Engineer Mohammad Jamal Uddin Majumdar, Additional Managing Director, delivered the welcome address. UPI Country Manager Masud Raihan spoke about the card’s features and benefits.
Other attendees included Additional Managing Director Dr. M Kamal Uddin Jasim, Deputy Managing Director Rafiqul Islam, Md. Maksudur Rahman, and Head of Digital Banking Wing Md. Mosharraf Hossain, along with senior bank executives.
The launch marks a step forward in facilitating international payments and digital banking services for Islami Bank customers.
