The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the BAJUS made the decision at a meeting held at 9:30am on Monday (9 March).
BAJUS said the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) declined in the local market, prompting the adjustment.
Under the new pricing structure, 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk252,876 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk216,775 per bhori, read a press release signed by the standing committee chairman, Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.
The price of gold produced under the traditional method has been set at Tk176,943 per bhori.
According to BAJUS, the new prices came into effect from 10:00am today.
