The International Monetary Fund (IMF) today
reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to Bangladesh, with Resident
Representative Maxym Kryshko pledging full cooperation during a meeting with
Governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) Md Mostaqur Rahman.
The courtesy call took place at the BB, where discussions were held in a
professional and collaborative atmosphere, said a press release.
Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman was also present
during the high-level meeting.
During the session, the IMF representative extended his congratulations to
the Governor and formally expressed the organisation's promise to maintain a
supportive and productive relationship with the nation's central bank.
Kryshko also detailed the IMF's positive outlook regarding the country's
governance, stating that the organisation is eagerly looking forward to
working with the newly-formed political government.
This formal statement of intent follows the establishment of the
administration through the recently held free and fair national elections,
signaling a robust start to the IMF's engagement with the current leadership.
The meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the positive trajectory
of the partnership between the IMF and Bangladesh Bank as they work toward
shared economic objectives.
