Gold prices in Bangladesh have been reduced once again, with the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) lowering the price by Tk2,158 per bhori.
Following the latest adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold, considered the highest quality, has been set at Tk264,948 per bhori (11.664 grams). The new rate will take effect from 10:00am on Friday, according to BAJUS.
The association said the price reduction was made after the cost of acid gold (pure gold) declined in the local market. The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, the organisation said in a notice signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.
Earlier on Thursday, BAJUS had also cut gold prices by Tk3,324 per bhori and reduced the price of silver by Tk350 per bhori. Following that adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold stood at Tk267,106 per bhori, while 22-carat silver was priced at Tk6,357 per bhori.
According to BAJUS data, gold prices in the domestic market have been adjusted 42 times so far this year, including 26 increases and 16 reductions.
