A Dhaka court on Sunday ordered that Nazrul Islam Majumdar, chairman of Nassa Group, be shown arrested in an attempted murder case filed with Bhatara Police Station in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam passed the order after police filed a petition seeking his detention in this case.

According to the case statement, when students of Dhaka University brought out processions following remarks made by then prime minister Sheikh Hasina centering on the anti-discrimination movement, the demonstrations were suppressed from 18 July.
The accused named in the case, along with unnamed suspects, allegedly opened fire on the complainant Rohan and his friends, leaving them seriously injured.
Earlier, Nazrul Islam Majumdar was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police from the Gulshan area of the capital on the night of 1 October 2024. He is currently in jail.
