A Dhaka court on Thursday deferred the submission of the probe report in the Bangladesh Bank reserve heist case, setting a new date on 18 May.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam set the new date as the Crime Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit it on the scheduled date. This marks the 94th time postponement of submitting the report.
Earlier on 5 February 2016, hackers stole a total of USD$8.1 crore from the Bangladesh Bank through fraudulent use of the SWIFT code to withdraw funds from the United States Federal Reserve Bank, which were sent to the Philippines.
At the time, officials suspected that the heist had been carried out with the assistance of an internal network within the country. Later, Bangladesh Bank Deputy Director Zobayer Bin Huda filed the case with Motijheel Police Station on 15 March 2016.
