BRAC Bank has inaugurated Cashless Qurbani Cattle Haat Booth at Diabari in Uttara, Dhaka.
The Digital Payment Booth at Cattle Haat is part of a cashless initiative of Bangladesh Bank. Bangladesh Bank has made BRAC Bank as the Lead Bank at Diabari Cattle Haat.
At the BRAC Bank booth, the buyers and traders can withdraw and deposit to bank accounts or Mobile Financial Services (MFS), send and receive money as any bank, make payments through QR code and POS machine, instantly open bank account and detecting fake notes and avail of Agent Banking services on 24/7 basis.
This booth enables livestock traders to securely deposit sales proceeds into banks, thereby reducing the risk associated with using cash. At the same time, buyers are also becoming accustomed to fast and secure digital payments.
The inauguration ceremony on May 24, 2026 was attended by cattle farmers, traders, buyers, and officials of Dhaka North City Corporation and other stakeholders of the Qurbani cattle market ecosystem.
A. N. M. Moinul Kabir, Director, Payment Services Department-1, Bangladesh Bank, attended the programme as Chief Guest. Md. Perwez Anzam Moonir, Additional Director, Payment Systems Department, Bangladesh Bank, and Khairuddin Ahmed, Head of Merchant Acquiring, BRAC Bank, attended as the special guests. From BRAC Bank, Dabashish Bhowmik, and Zahedul Matin, Branch and Cluster Managers, were also present.
Under this initiative, buyers and sellers of sacrificial animals will be able to make secure and convenient transactions through POS machines, Bangla QR payments, Agent Banking, ATM cash deposit and withdrawal facilities, and other digital banking channels.
The initiative aims to promote safe, transparent, and hassle-free transactions during the Eid-ul-Azha cattle trading season while reducing the risks associated with carrying cash, including theft, fraud, and counterfeit currency. The programme also supports financial inclusion and advances Bangladesh’s vision of a smarter and cashless economy.
