An allocation of Tk44 crore has been kept for the Armed Forces Division in the proposed budget for fiscal year 2026-2027, according to the budget documents.
Of the amount, over Tk38 crore has been set aside for operations while the rest of the money has been allocated for development.
The main functions of the Armed Forces Division include: Formulation of Defence Policy; deployment of Armed Forces in war, UN Mission, areas affected by natural disaster and in aid to civil power; formulation of Defence Procurement Policy and supervision and co-ordination of Defence purchase; planning and co-ordination of all joint services training and operations at home and abroad; co-ordination and control of activities of Inter-Services Organisations; establishment of liaison between the Civil Administration and the Armed Forces; appointments and promotions to the posts of colonel or equivalent and above rank in the Army, the Navy and the Air Force and planning and co-ordination of Joint Intelligence activities.
Tk40 crore was allocated for the Division in the revised budget of FY2025-26.
