The government has announced a target to increase the contribution of the tourism sector to 6%–7% of GDP and is preparing an investment roadmap as part of the broader tourism master plan to attract investment and create large-scale employment opportunities.
The government has also taken an initiative to develop Bangladesh as one of the leading aviation hubs in South and Southeast Asia by 2034, the proposed budget for FY2026-27 said.
A total allocation of Tk60,730 crore has been proposed for the development of transport and communication infrastructure in the budget, considering the importance of trade, commerce, and supply chain systems.
However, in the revised budget for FY2025–26, the allocation for this sector was Tk48,292 crore.
