Prominent businessman and philanthropist Monzurur Rahman has been unanimously re-elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pubali Bank PLC for a further term of two years during the bank's 1520th Board of Directors meeting.
Monzurur Rahman embarked on his career in the banking sector in 1967 by joining Eastern Mercantile Bank, the predecessor of Pubali Bank, as its youngest Director. Following the privatization of Pubali Bank, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors from January 25, 1985, to January 18, 1986, and has been continuously leading the board as Chairman since July 31, 2020.
Under his visionary leadership and strategic guidance, Pubali Bank PLC has continued its trajectory of growth, modernization, and excellence, further strengthening its position as one of the leading private commercial banks in Bangladesh.
Belonging to a distinguished family with longstanding contributions to the banking and financial sectors of Bangladesh, Monzurur Rahman also serves as the Chairman of Rema Tea Company Ltd. Additionally, he has previously contributed his expertise as an Independent Director of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited.
Born into the illustrious Kazi Bari family of Cheora village under Chauddagram Upazila in the Cumilla district, he carries forward a rich legacy of leadership and entrepreneurship. His father, the late Khan Bahadur Mukhlesur Rahman, was a highly successful tea planter and a law graduate of Calcutta University.
