The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced gold prices by Tk4,374 per bhori, setting the new price of 22-carat gold at Tk228,556 per bhori (11.664 gram), including VAT.
The revised rates came into effect from 10:00am on Friday, BAJUS said in a statement.
The association said it reviewed the local market after the price of pure gold declined and adjusted retail prices accordingly.
Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold now costs Tk222,491 per bhori, while 18-carat gold sells for Tk191,056 per bhori. Gold produced under the traditional method now costs Tk156,064 per bhori.
BAJUS last revised gold prices on Thursday, when it added Tk2,508 per bhori as part of a VAT adjustment. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold stood at Tk232,930 per bhori, including VAT.
The latest cut marks the 77th adjustment to gold prices in the domestic market this year. So far, BAJUS has raised prices 39 times, reduced them 37 times and made one VAT adjustment.
In 2025, the association revised gold prices 93 times, including 64 increases and 29 reductions.
