The 1 st Meeting of the Shari’ah Supervisory Committee (SSC) of Citizens Bank PLC was held recently at the Bank’s Head Office in Dhaka. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdus Samad, CSAA, Chairman of the Shari’ah Supervisory Committee. The other members of the Committee, Dr.Mufti Muhammad Abu Yusuf and Mufti Muinul Islam were also present. Mr. Alamgir Hossain, Managing Director of Citizens Bank PLC, attended the meeting. Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman & Mr. Md. Abdul Latif, Deputy Managing Director of the Bank, Mr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Shikder, Head of Islamic Banking Division along with other officials of the Islamic Banking Division were also present.
The Committee reviewed and approved all the Guideline, Policies and PPG prepared for Islamic Banking
Operation including Shari’ah compliance, service quality enhancement, investment management, and operational procedures relating to Shari’ah-compliant products and services.
The members of the Committee expressed their satisfaction with the overall preparedness and strategic initiatives undertaken by Citizens Bank PLC for launching its Islamic Banking services. The Committee expressed their hope that Citizens Bank Islamic Banking will make a meaningful contribution to the growth and development of the Islamic banking industry in Bangladesh and emerge as a trusted provider of Shari’ah-compliant banking services.
