The 14th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of ActionAid International Bangladesh Society (AAIBS) was held in Dhaka on Wednesday in a hybrid format, bringing together Executive Board and General Assembly members from across the country and abroad.
At the meeting, Suraya Akter, Country Manager of suPPPort, was elected as a member of the Executive Board, while Dr Samiya Selim, Professor at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), was elected to the General Assembly.
The AGM approved the organisation’s Annual Audit Report 2025 and reviewed key activities, achievements and governance initiatives undertaken over the past year. Members also discussed upcoming programmes and governance priorities for the organisation.
Welcoming the newly elected members, AAIBS Chairperson Ibrahim Khalil Al-Zayad said they would play an important role in strengthening the organisation’s governance framework.
He expressed confidence that their expertise and commitment would help advance ActionAid’s mission, vision and values.
Farah Kabir, Country Director of ActionAid Bangladesh and Ex-Officio Secretary of AAIBS, thanked Executive Board and General Assembly members for their contributions to strengthening internal governance and accountability.
She said AAIBS has developed an inclusive and democratic governance model by bringing together grassroots representatives, young people and experienced professionals.
The meeting was also attended by special guest Belinda Morrissey, Executive Board Member of AAIBS and Chair of ActionAid Australia.
The AGM reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to strengthening governance, accountability and inclusive participation as it continues its development and advocacy work in Bangladesh.
