Bangladesh Bank has extended the implementation deadline for regulatory requirements related to the "Add Money" service, which allows transfers from bank cards to personal Mobile Financial Services (MFS) accounts, until December 31, 2026.
The directive was issued on Thursday through PSD-1 Circular Letter No. 03/2026, revising the implementation timeline for provisions 2 and 3 of an earlier circular issued on May 19.
According to the circular, MFS providers and scheduled banks that fail to meet the prescribed requirements within the extended deadline will have their bank card-to-MFS "Add Money" service suspended from January 1, 2027.
Bangladesh Bank said the directive was issued under Section 18 of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2024.
The central bank clarified that the extension applies only to the implementation of the two specified provisions. All other instructions contained in the May 19 circular remain unchanged and must continue to be followed.
