The price of the finest 22-carat gold has surged by Tk 9,856 per bhori (11.664 grams) in the domestic market. Following this significant hike, the cost of top-quality gold—inclusive of VAT—has been revised to Tk 2,32,930 per bhori.
The updated rates came into effect at 10:00 AM on Thursday (August 6), according to an official announcement from the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS).
BAJUS cited an increase in the local price of pure (tezabi) gold as the primary driver behind this adjustment, prompting a recalibration of consumer rates across all purity grades.
Under the updated pricing schedule, 22-carat hallmarked cadmium gold jewelry is set at Tk 19,970 per gram, bringing the total price per bhori to approximately Tk 2,32,960.
Additionally, 21-carat gold is now priced at Tk 19,075 per gram, 18-carat gold at Tk 16,380 per gram, and traditional method gold at Tk 13,380 per gram.
Silver prices have also been restructured by BAJUS. The cost per gram for 22-carat hallmarked silver stands at Tk 420, 21-carat silver at Tk 400, 18-carat silver at Tk 345, and traditional method silver at Tk 260.
This latest adjustment marks the 98th revision of gold prices in the local market this year alone, encompassing 48 price increases, 49 reductions, and 1 VAT realignment.
