Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Md. Mostaqur Rahman joined a high-profile promotion campaign for Bangla QR in Chattogram today as part of a two-day official visit focused on accelerating digital payment adoption and reviewing central bank policy support.
During his visit spanning August 7-8, the governor is slated to preside over a series of high-level administrative meetings with officials at the Bangladesh Bank Chattogram Office to evaluate current policy implementation and assess regional financial operations, according to an official press release issued today.
Kickstarting the first day of his official tour, Governor Mostaqur Rahman visited the historic Gani Bakery in Chattogram city. Demonstrating the ease of interoperable digital transactions, he purchased the bakery's famous traditional "Bela Biscuits" by completing the transaction via the Bangla QR platform using his mobile device.
Commending the iconic commercial establishment for embracing digital payment infrastructure, the central bank governor emphasized Bangladesh Bank's ongoing commitment to cultivating a secure, user-friendly, cost-effective, and inclusive cashless financial ecosystem nationwide.
"The integration of Bangla QR by a heritage establishment like Gani Bakery stands as a powerful testament to the expanding acceptance of cashless transactions and reflects rising public trust in the nation's digital financial infrastructure," the governor stated.
He further noted that the widespread adoption of digital transactions across business sectors will significantly boost financial transparency, slash transactional expenses, and drive broader economic inclusion for small and large enterprises alike.
Urging the business community at large to embrace modern financial technology, Governor Mostaqur Rahman called upon commercial entities across the country to adopt Bangla QR actively and join the national momentum toward a cashless economy.
According to Bangladesh Bank, Bangla QR is rapidly establishing itself as a premier, highly secure, and interoperable digital payment framework across urban and rural markets. Central bank officials anticipate that the governor's direct participation in the Chattogram campaign will inspire both commercial vendors and everyday consumers to transition away from cash-based transactions.
