Bangladesh Bank has officially terminated the remaining contractual tenure of its Chief Economist, Dr Mohammad Akhtar Hossain, through an official administrative order. The regulatory body’s Human Resources Department-1 formally announced the decision, effectively cutting short his engagement with the monetary authority prior to the scheduled completion of his term.
The administrative directive specifically revokes the original appointment terms laid out under office instructions issued on September 1, 2025, alongside appointment letter number 28 of the same year. According to the newly released notification from the central bank, the cancellation of Dr Hossain's contractual position as Chief Economist will take official effect starting September 10, 2026.
