Gold prices in Bangladesh have risen for the third consecutive time following the latest price adjustment announced by the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) on August 13. The newly revised rates remain in effect across all jewellery outlets nationwide on Friday (August 14).
According to the official price chart released by BAJUS, 21-carat gold jewellery is currently priced at BDT 2,26,165 per bhori (11.664 grams), while 18-carat gold stands at BDT 1,94,206 per bhori. Meanwhile, traditional method gold jewellery is selling at BDT 1,58,630 per bhori.
BAJUS confirmed that these updated rates will remain active until further notice. However, making charges will vary based on intricate jewellery designs. Additionally, BAJUS clarified that since sales tax (VAT) is already factored into the listed retail prices of gold and silver ornaments, merchants are prohibited from charging extra VAT from customers. Standard association protocols regarding deduction percentages for metal exchange, craftsmanship charges, and gemstone valuations remain unchanged.
This latest adjustment marks the third upward revision in quick succession within a single week. Prior to the August 13 hike, BAJUS had raised the price of high-grade gold jewellery by BDT 1,108 per bhori on August 11, following an earlier price increase on August 8.
