The gold prices jumped again in the local market on Saturday.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,158 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new rate at Tk236,779 per bhori, inclusive of VAT.
The association issued a press release in this regard on Saturday.
The new prices came into effect at 10am the same day.
BAJUS said the adjustment came after a decline in the price of refined gold (tejabi sona) in the local market, prompting the association to revise the rates, including VAT.
Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold now costs Tk226,165 per bhori, while 18-carat gold stands at Tk194,206 per bhori. Traditional gold has been priced at Tk158,630 per bhori.
BAJUS said the revised rates would remain in effect at all jewellery outlets until further notice. However, making charges will continue to vary depending on the design of the jewellery.
