The government has appointed Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun as chairman of the Invest Bangladesh Authority for one year on a contractual basis.
The Ministry of Public Administration announced the appointment in a notification issued by its Contract and Foreign Employment Branch on Friday.
Ashik Chowdhury’s tenure will begin on the day he joins the post.
The notification said the government appointed him under Section 8(5) of the Invest Bangladesh Act, 2023. He will serve as chairman of the authority under the Prime Minister’s Office.
Under the terms of his appointment, Ashik Chowdhury cannot engage in any other profession or business. He must also sever any employment or professional association with any government, semi-government or private organisation.
The government will determine his salary, allowances and other benefits through a formal contract, according to the notification.
The notification said the government made the appointment in the public interest.
Deputy Secretary Md Golam Rabbani of the Ministry of Public Administration signed the notification on behalf of the president.
As chairman, Ashik Chowdhury will lead the authority’s investment-related activities and support the government’s initiatives to promote investment in Bangladesh.
