In a fresh boost to the country's export diversification efforts under the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Ecolite (Private) Limited is set to invest USD 15.91 million to establish an LED product manufacturing facility at BEPZA Economic Zone-1 in Mirsharai, Chattogram.
The enterprise will manufacture an annual output of six million pieces of lamps, encompassing LED bulbs and decorative lighting. These products are slated for export to key international markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the Middle East. The venture will generate employment opportunities for 306 Bangladeshi nationals.
A formal agreement to this effect was signed today at the BEPZA Complex. BEPZA Member (Investment Promotion) Md. Tanvir Hossain and Ecolite Managing Director Md. Soleiman inked the pact on behalf of their respective organizations.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain was present during the signing ceremony.
Welcoming Ecolite's investment, the BEPZA Executive Chairman commended the company for venturing beyond the readymade garment sector and contributing to the diversification of Bangladesh's export-oriented industrial base.
He remarked that BEPZA is actively working to expand its product portfolio by attracting investments across diverse sectors beyond traditional exports. The inclusion of LED manufacturing will add a new dimension to BEPZA's ongoing initiatives in product and export diversification, he added.
BEPZA noted that the project will unlock new avenues for technology-driven electrical and electronic manufacturing within the economic zone, while playing a vital role in broadening Bangladesh's export basket.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior BEPZA officials, including Member (Engineering) Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (Finance) A.N.M. Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Mosiuddin Bin Mesbah, Executive Director (Administration) Samir Biswas, and Executive Director (Public Relations) A.S.M. Anwar Parvez, alongside representatives from Ecolite.
