The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has slashed gold ornament prices in the domestic market, reducing the price of the highest quality 22-carat gold by Tk 4,474 per bhori (11.664 grams) following a downward trend in pure gold rates.
Under the revised pricing framework, the retail rate for one bhori of 22-carat gold jewelry, inclusive of value-added tax (VAT), has been fixed at Tk 2,36,254. The revised tariff officially took effect from 10:00 am on Monday, August 31.
According to BAJUS, the decision to adjust jewelry prices was prompted by a decline in the market price of refined pure gold (tejabi gold) across local bullion markets. The downward adjustment was formally finalized during an emergency session of the association's Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.
The official implementation was subsequently announced through a press release signed by Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, Chairman of the Pricing and Price Monitoring Committee.
