A state-of-the-art automated smart warehouse has been launched at the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (EPZ) to expedite the supply of specialized labels and packaging materials for the ready-made garment and footwear sectors. The technology-driven facility was introduced by Paxar Bangladesh Limited, a subsidiary of the US-based multinational Avery Dennison.
US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen formally inaugurated the warehouse on Monday, according to a press release from the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA).
The 830-square-meter automated facility boasts a storage capacity of roughly 25,000 cartons. Operations—ranging from product intake and storage to order bagging and dispatch—are managed via digital automation as part of Avery Dennison's global "Manufacturing 4.0" initiative.
Speaking at the launch, Ambassador Christensen emphasized that modernizing supply chains and adopting advanced technologies are essential to sharpening Bangladesh's industrial competitiveness. He highlighted that US companies are contributing efficiency and innovation, reflecting deepening bilateral commercial ties.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain remarked that investments from firms like Avery Dennison introduce vital technological expertise to the domestic manufacturing ecosystem. He also invited prospective American investors to explore opportunities in the newly developed EPZs in Patuakhali and Jashore.
BEPZA Member (Investment Promotion) Md. Tanvir Hossain, Dhaka EPZ Executive Director Mohammad Abdul Jabbar, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan, and AmCham President Syed Mohammad Kamal also attended the opening. Operating in Dhaka EPZ since 2003, US-owned Paxar Bangladesh has invested around $81 million and created employment for nearly 1,500 people.
