The Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) hosted a high-level business dialogue with H.E. Mr. Muhammad Zulqar Nain, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Germany, at the BGCCI office in Dhaka today.
The programme was attended by members of the BGCCI Board of Directors, a former President of BGCCI, and CEOs and senior representatives of BGCCI member companies, including leading German businesses operating in Bangladesh.
The programme began with a welcome address by Md. Rokonuzzaman, FCA, President of BGCCI, followed by a presentation by Mr. Farooque Khan, Senior Vice President, BGCCI, highlighting the Chamber’s activities and initiatives to strengthen Bangladesh-Germany business relations.
The Ambassador subsequently delivered a presentation outlining the initiatives being undertaken by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Germany to strengthen investor confidence and promote Bangladesh as an attractive destination for German investment. He also highlighted opportunities for German businesses to export to Bangladesh in several key sectors and further expand their presence in the Bangladeshi market.
The Ambassador emphasized Bangladesh’s growing strategic importance to Germany and highlighted opportunities for stronger economic cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed appreciation for the support of the German Government for Bangladesh’s candidacy at the United Nations.
The discussion focused on expanding bilateral trade, creating stronger partnerships between Bangladeshi and German companies, and promoting greater German investment in Bangladesh. Participants explored opportunities for joint ventures, technology cooperation, business matchmaking and access to the German and wider European markets.
Particular attention was given to emerging areas of cooperation, including semiconductor packaging, inverter technology and solar-panel-related technologies, alongside established sectors such as apparel, energy and IT and digital services.
Participants also emphasized the importance of regular business delegations, B2B matchmaking, trade fairs, investment promotion activities and stronger institutional cooperation to translate these opportunities into concrete commercial partnerships.
BGCCI and the Embassy of Bangladesh in Berlin will continue to maintain close engagement and explore practical initiatives to promote bilateral trade, facilitate business partnerships and encourage German investment in Bangladesh.
The dialogue reaffirmed the shared interest in developing a stronger, more diversified and mutually beneficial economic relationship between Bangladesh and Germany.
