Messe Frankfurt Bangladesh CEO Omer Salahuddin met Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice-Chairman Muhammad Hasan Arif in Dhaka on Monday to discuss ways to strengthen Bangladesh’s participation in international trade fairs and increase the benefits for local exporters.
The meeting was held at the EPB office as a follow-up to Arif’s visit to Texworld Apparel Sourcing in Paris earlier this month, where he met several Bangladeshi exhibitors, said a press release.
The discussions covered Bangladesh’s participation in upcoming Messe Frankfurt trade fairs, early confirmation of exhibition space, promotion of national pavilions and ways to attract more buyers to Bangladeshi exhibitors.
Salahuddin outlined measures Messe Frankfurt could take to enhance Bangladesh’s visibility beyond exhibition space, including stronger branding of national pavilions, seminars on Bangladesh and greater press and media exposure during trade fairs.
The two sides also discussed pre-show sessions in Dhaka to help first-time exhibitors prepare for international fairs, follow up with buyers and improve returns from their participation. Greater attention would be given to trends, colours and display methods, according to the press release.
Sustainability was another key area of discussion. Bangladesh has more LEED-certified green factories than any other country, but international buyers are not always aware of the achievement, the release said.
The two sides agreed that Bangladeshi exhibitors should make greater use of Messe Frankfurt’s sustainability platforms, including the Heimtextil Green Directory and the Econogy Finder at Apparel Sourcing Paris, to highlight their sustainability efforts.
Salahuddin said Messe Frankfurt Bangladesh would have an information booth at the Global Sourcing Show in Dhaka in November and had planned several activities for the end of 2026 and early 2027.
He stressed the importance of manufacturers being more visible to customers and buyers amid challenging times, saying exporters should carefully select trade fairs to avoid wasting money, time and effort on low-quality events.
Bangladesh already has a strong presence at several Messe Frankfurt events, including Apparel Sourcing in Paris and the United States, Heimtextil and Ambiente in Frankfurt, and the upcoming Eurobike.
