Bashundhara Paper Mills PLC, a leading paper manufacturer in Bangladesh has appointed Dr. Nahid Sultana, Professor of Economics at Jahangirnagar University as an Independent Director on its Board of Directors with the consent of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on Tuesday (22 September 2026).
Dr. Nahid Sultana brings more than 25 years of academic, research and professional experience in economics, econometrics, environmental economics, sustainable development and policy analysis. She is currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Economics at Jahangirnagar University. Prior to her appointment as Professor, she served as an Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Lecturer at the same university.
She completed her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, in 2023. She also holds a Master of Economics from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, as well as a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics from Jahangirnagar University.
Dr. Nahid Sultana has published research papers in international journals. Her research covers areas such as the informal sector, economic growth, environmental economics, renewable energy, health and sustainable development. Some of her research papers have been published in journals ranked Q1 and Q2 by Scimago.
