Government seal with Bangladeshi taka notes.
Government employees are poised to receive increased basic salaries in their October disbursements under the newly notified national pay scale, with necessary budget allocations already secured. However, existing allowances will continue to be disbursed at previous rates until the revised pay framework is fully phased in.
The Ministry of Finance's Finance Division issued a circular on Monday (October 19) directing all government ministries, divisions, directorates, departments, autonomous bodies, and state-owned enterprises on allowance calculations. The directive clarified that until the newly fixed basic pay under the 2026 salary order becomes fully operational, percentage-based allowances will remain tied to prevailing basic pay under earlier provisions. The government had gazetted the new pay and allowance order on September 19, deferring the adjustment of allowances to a later phase.
Under the revised framework, the minimum basic pay for government staff has been set at Tk 20,000, while the maximum basic pay stands at Tk 1,56,000. Although officially effective from July 1, the benefits are rolling out in distinct phases. Basic pay revisions will be implemented across three intervals: July 1 to December 31, 2026; January 1 to June 30, 2027; and July 1 to December 31, 2027. Allowances under the revised matrix are scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2028. Meanwhile, electronic pay fixation through the government's iBAS++ system, which commenced on October 5, concluded on Tuesday (October 20).
