The Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) has once again reduced gold prices in the local market, cutting the rate of top-quality 22-carat gold by Tk 1,691 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk 2,26,340. The revised pricing took effect from 10:00 AM on Thursday (October 22), according to a press release issued by the association.
BAJUS stated that the downward adjustment reflects a decline in the price of refined local gold (pure gold). Under the new tariff structure including VAT, 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 1,575 to Tk 2,16,192 per bhori, 18-carat gold lowered by Tk 1,341 to Tk 1,85,691 per bhori, and traditional method gold dropped by Tk 1,108 to stand at Tk 1,51,690 per bhori. This follows an earlier reduction on October 13, when 22-carat gold was cut by Tk 3,266 to Tk 2,28,031 per bhori, bringing the cumulative price drop across two successive revisions within nine days to Tk 4,957 per bhori.
Alongside gold, the trade body also revised down the price of silver ornaments. Following the adjustment, 22-carat silver now costs Tk 4,024 per bhori (down by Tk 175), 21-carat silver Tk 3,849 (down by Tk 117), 18-carat silver Tk 3,324 (down by Tk 117), and traditional category silver stands at Tk 2,508 per bhori (down by Tk 116).
