The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold jewelry prices in the domestic market, increasing the rate of high-grade 22-carat gold by Tk 1,633 per bhori (11.664 grams). Under the updated tariff structure, the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk 224,707, inclusive of value-added tax (VAT).
According to a press statement signed by Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, Chairman of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring, the price adjustment follows a rise in the price of refined pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local bullion market. The decision was formalized during a committee meeting on Thursday morning, with the revised rates taking effect from 10:00 AM on Thursday (October 29).
