Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury meets labour union leaders at his official residence
Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury has announced that the process to constitute a wage board for workers and commence its operations will begin on Sunday (November 1) to address workers' demands. The minister made the disclosure on Friday night (October 30) following a meeting held at his official residence with leaders of various labour organisations to discuss ongoing labour unrest and the wage board issue.
Terming the discussion with the labour leaders highly productive and fruitful, the minister stated that formal activities regarding the wage board will get underway on Sunday morning. He affirmed that the government will undertake phased, necessary steps based on continuous dialogue to meet the legitimate demands of the workforce.
Emphasizing a balanced approach to industrial stability, the minister noted that while the authorities are committed to protecting the industrial sector and manufacturing units, ensuring the rightful demands of the workers remains equally essential. He highlighted that since Prime Minister Tariq Rahman assumed office, the government has successfully ensured the clearance of workers' wages. Expressing optimism, the labour minister added that within the next couple of days, the long-sought demand of the working class regarding the wage board will formally be granted and set in motion.
