Guests at the Bangladesh Apparel Roadshow 2026 in Hong Kong
Bangladesh showcased its garment manufacturing capabilities to more than 130 international buyers, sourcing professionals, and industry leaders at a Hong Kong roadshow aimed at securing new orders and expanding its global footprint.
The Bangladesh Apparel Roadshow 2026, held on 28 October at the Island Shangri-La, was jointly organised by HSBC Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), in collaboration with the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Hong Kong.
As global brands re-evaluate their supply chains, the event gave Bangladeshi manufacturers a platform to present their expanding capabilities in high-value production, product diversification, and sustainability.
Oliver T Jones, head of global network banking at HSBC, opened the event, followed by remarks from BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan and Consul General Dr Shah Mohammad Tanvir Monsur.
Dr Rubana Huq, chairperson of Mohammadi Group, delivered the keynote address titled “Why Bangladesh: Legacy and the Future,” highlighting the industry’s evolution and long-term potential.
The programme also featured two panel discussions – “Why Should You Source from Bangladesh?” and “Through Buyers’ Lens” – where representatives from HSBC, the BGMEA, and international sourcing agencies discussed evolving buyer expectations, environmental standards, and strategic brand partnerships.
The event also featured “The Bangladesh Collective”, an apparel showcase highlighting the country’s product diversity, innovation and technical manufacturing capabilities.
A networking session allowed buyers and industry representatives to exchange views and explore potential business partnerships.
Speaking at the event, Consul General Monsur said Bangladesh offered global investors large-scale manufacturing capacity, competitive production, sustainable practices and strategic access to international markets.
He said the garment industry remained central to the country’s economy and had repeatedly demonstrated its ability to adapt, innovate and overcome challenges.
Md Mahbub ur Rahman, chief executive officer of HSBC Bangladesh, said the country’s apparel sector was moving beyond competition based on production volume towards higher-value products, innovation, sustainability and greater flexibility.
He said product diversification and resilience would help Bangladesh strengthen its position in the next phase of global apparel manufacturing.
BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan said Bangladesh’s manufacturing capabilities were ready for international buyers to explore and assess.
He invited global brands to establish long-term partnerships with an industry that was diversifying its products and placing greater emphasis on value addition and sustainability.
The roadshow also highlighted HSBC’s role in connecting Bangladeshi businesses with international markets through its global network and trade expertise.
The event provided a platform for Bangladeshi manufacturers and global buyers to explore new opportunities amid changing dynamics in the international apparel supply chain.
