The verified Facebook page of Mufti Amir Hamza, the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for Kushtia-3 (Sadar) and a prominent Islamic speaker, has been removed following a copyright strike and cyberattack.
Enamul Haque, Amir Hamza’s spokesperson and leader of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Kushtia city branch, confirmed the page’s removal in a press release on Thursday at 4:30 PM.
According to the statement, the official page had been targeted over the past few days by a coordinated campaign involving false copyright strikes and cyberattacks orchestrated by malicious actors. The removal by Meta, Facebook’s parent company, was not due to any policy violation but was the result of deliberate false claims and misleading reports.
Enamul Haque said, “We firmly believe that this disgraceful act was carried out by an envious group attempting to undermine the growing popularity and support for Mufti Amir Hamza. However, even if a Facebook page is removed, it cannot erase him from the hearts of the people.”
He added that steps have already been taken to recover the page, and all necessary information and evidence have been submitted to Meta. Supporters were urged not to be misled by fake accounts, rumors, or misleading campaigns, and to remain patient and vigilant.
Furthermore, Enamul Haque informed that a general diary (GD) has been filed at Kushtia Model Police Station regarding the removal of the page following Friday prayers.
