State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced on Sunday that the nationwide school feeding program will be officially launched across the country within the 2027 academic year.
Speaking to journalists after inspecting various model school projects developed by trainees at the Primary Teachers' Training Institute (PTI) in Rangpur, the State Minister noted that if any operational shortcomings are detected during the ongoing pilot phase, the nationwide expansion might face minor delays at the start of the year but will definitively roll out within 2027.
Detailing the progress of the initiative, Bobby Hajjaj remarked:
"The piloting of the school feeding program is currently underway with positive results. A review workshop on the pilot project is scheduled to be held in Dinajpur tomorrow, which will provide further operational insights. If the overall findings remain satisfactory, the nationwide initiative will commence at the very beginning of the 2027 academic calendar. Even if minor procedural defects are identified, the program will be introduced nationwide within the same academic year after rectifying them."
Addressing concerns regarding fluctuations in overall primary student enrollment, the State Minister emphasized that numerical changes are secondary to ensuring universal access and academic quality. He underscored that the primary mandate of the government is to ensure every child attends school and receives quality education, affirming that there will be no compromise on regular school attendance and the delivery of proper foundational learning across all educational institutions.
