Interim government’s cultural advisor, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, has reacted on burning of two motifs created for this year’s Bengali New Year celebration at Dhaka University's Faculty of Fine Arts (Charukala).
Around 11:30 AM on Saturday, he made a post about it on his verified Facebook account.
In the Facebook post, the cultural advisor wrote "Hasina’s associates burned down the face of fascism at Charukola early yesterday morning. Those who dared to do this; whether they are the soft Awami League or Awami B-team, they all must be brought to justice swiftly."
He added that those attempting to stop the procession on behalf of Awami League would not only be brought under the law, but efforts would also be made to ensure that this year's procession became even more meaningful.
The advisor further stated that the previous night's incident had made it clear that Hasina’s supporters did not want the people of Bangladesh to unite and celebrate together.
He asserted that they were now more determined than ever and intended to participate in even greater numbers.
Farooki wrote, "In recent days, many supporters of July movement have said that this year’s procession is becoming the most inclusive and different of all. Some even suggested not keeping the grotesque face of fascism in it. We were considering all perspectives and trying to understand the university authorities' opinion. But after last night’s incident, the presence of this monster has become even more inevitable. July continues."
Previously, the motifs named "Face of Fascism" and "Peace Dove" made for this year’s Bengali New Year festive procession were burned by miscreants.
