Khaleda, Tarique extend condolences to families of jet crash victims

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman have expressed deep sorrow over the tragic crash of an Air Force training aircraft at the Milestone School and College campus in Uttara, Dhaka.

The incident resulted in multiple casualties and injuries.

In their joint statement, the BNP leaders extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and injured, praying for patience and strength for those grieving such devastating losses. They also offered prayers for the departed souls and wished a swift recovery for the injured students, many of whom are undergoing critical treatment in hospitals after suffering severe burns.

Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman have directed all BNP leaders, activists, and affiliated organizations to stand by the families affected by the tragedy. They also urged party members at all levels to donate blood for the injured students currently under treatment in various hospitals in Dhaka.

Following Tarique Rahman’s instructions, a BNP delegation including Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Dhaka North BNP Convener Aminul Haque, and “Amra BNP Poribar” Convener Atikur Rahman Ruman visited the crash site on Monday afternoon.

Additionally, BNP’s Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam rushed to the scene with a rescue team and a fleet of ambulances, acting on the directives of the party's acting chairman, as per a party statement. “His team actively took part in rescue and emergency efforts,” it said.

“Since the incident, many leaders and volunteers from BNP’s affiliate and associate bodies have been working on-site in Uttara. Tarique Rahman, from London, is reportedly monitoring the situation closely and receiving regular updates,” the statement added.
