The Daily Express begins it’s journey  & 'Desher Kantha' celebrates 8th anniversary

The Daily Express officially begins it’s journey , marking a significant addition to the country's media landscape. National daily Desher Kantha celebrated its 8th anniversary and stepped into its 9th year of publication yesterday (Wednesday) at the Central Kochi-Kachar Mela Auditorium in the capital.

This twin celebration was a bright and dynamic occasion in the world of journalism. The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a discussion session, cake-cutting ceremony, and a delightful banquet. The event became a joyous gathering for journalists, writers, and literary figures who came from across the country.

The event was graced by former Cabinet Secretary and current Chairman, Managing Committee of  Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation, A.S.M. Abdul Halim, as the Chief Guest. Special guests included Mr. M. Zahirul Islam, President of Ideal School and College and former Secretary, renowned fiction writer Jharna Rahman, Director (Advertisement and Audit) of the Department of Films and Publications Mohammad Fakhrul Islam, and Director General Khaleda Begum were present at the event.

The Guests of Honour were Emeritus Professor Serajul Islam Choudhury and Mohammad Rafiqul Amin, Founding Director of Destiny 2000 Limited, Managing Director of Baishakhi Television, and Editor & Publisher of the Daily Destiny.

Celebrated author Jharna Rahman emphasized the broader responsibility of the media, stating, “Journalism is not only about reporting the news, but also about becoming the voice of those ignored by society. I believe Desher Kantha and The Daily Express will continue to uphold reader-oriented, humane, and bold journalism.”

Special guest and former Home Secretary S. M. Zohurul Islam, in his speech, remarked, "Journalism is not merely a profession; it is a fusion of responsibility and ethics. If the newly launched Daily Express remains committed to truth and human values, it will undoubtedly earn a lasting place in the hearts of its readers."

Chief guest and former Cabinet Secretary A. S. M. Abdul Halim said, "For the past nine years, Desher Kantha has established itself as a reliable voice in awakening the nation's conscience. The launch of the new daily, The Daily Express, alongside it, will further strengthen our media landscape."

Guest of Honour Mohammad Rafiqul Amin, Founding Director of Destiny 2000 Limited, Managing Director of Baishakhi Television, and Editor & Publisher of the Daily Destiny, highly praised Desher Kantha for becoming a true voice of the people. He welcomed the launch of The Daily Express as a significant new chapter for the country's media industry.

Mohammad Fakhrul Islam, Director (Advertisement and Audit) of the Department of Films and Publications, conveyed his best wishes for the continued success of both Desher Kantha and The Daily Express newspapers.

Khaleda Begum, Director General of the Department of Films and Publications, expressed her optimism that Desher Kantha and The Daily Express would play a meaningful role in the advancement of the country's media landscape.

In his closing remarks,Editor & Publisher of Desher Kantha, Mr. Alamgir Hossain said, "We are moving forward with a commitment to truth, justice, and standing beside the people. Today’s dual celebration is a powerful reaffirmation of that pledge."

He also noted that the journey to Desher Kantha’s ninth year was not an easy one. Reaffirming his commitment, he expressed confidence that The Daily Express, with its unique approach, will carve out a distinct place in the media landscape.

Mr. Hossain concluded by offering his sincere heartfelt gratitude, appreciation, and congratulations to all attendees, readers, journalists, advertisers, hawkers, agents, and well-wishers across the country for their active support and contributions behind the success of this program.
