Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas Day, the greatest religious festival of Christians.
In a message on Wednesday, he said Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity, was born in Bethlehem on this day. He said Jesus came into the world with the message of peace, justice and the liberation of humanity.
''One of the main goals of His life was to free humankind from sin and guide them on the path of truth, goodness and justice. The great Jesus was always devoted to serving the distressed, the neglected and the starving. Throughout His life, He preached the glory of forgiveness, love and devotion to God. His way of life and noble moral virtues remain exemplary ideals for His devotees and followers even today.''
Mentioning Bangladesh as a shining example of communal harmony, Prof Yunus said, “Since time immemorial, the people of this country have maintained cordial coexistence by respecting different religions, cultures and customs.”
He expressed hope that the celebration of Christmas with due dignity and enthusiasm would further strengthen this bond of harmony.
