Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), has reaffirmed the force’s commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and credible election, describing it not just as a responsibility but as a sacred trust. “Keeping the nation free from the influence of malign forces and delivering a transparent and acceptable election is not merely a duty—it is a holy mandate. Ansar and VDP will remain steadfast in fulfilling this state responsibility, driven by love for the motherland, accountability to the nation, and the trust of the people,” he said.
He made the remarks today at a preparatory rally held at Tangail District Stadium ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the 2026 referendum. The rally is part of a nationwide preparatory program organized by Ansar-VDP to ensure peaceful elections.
The DG emphasized strengthening coordination, unity, and effective use of collective force among personnel, while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism to prevent any irregularities or aggression. “Performing state duties with unity, discipline, and dedication, guided by fundamental training, forms the cornerstone of a fair, peaceful, and credible election,” he added.
The rally was simultaneously broadcast live on giant screens in Rajshahi, Nawabganj, and Mymensingh, allowing Ansar-VDP members in those districts to receive the DG’s guidance directly.
The coordinated event inspired renewed motivation, confidence, and a collective sense of duty among personnel, reflecting their uncompromising stance against irregularities and malpractices.
Major General Sajjad Mahmud further noted, “The primary goal of these preparatory rallies is to enhance communication, unity, and awareness among personnel. National elections are undoubtedly critical and sensitive responsibilities, but joint preparation and a sense of duty play a key role in meeting these challenges.”
He highlighted that at every polling station, the combined strength of 13 Ansar-VDP members assigned there would serve as a vigilant force against any form of misconduct or aggression.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining personal equipment, proper uniforms, food arrangements, and discipline during duty. “Each member must represent themselves as a capable and professional representative of the force. This will strengthen public trust in Ansar and VDP and ensure safe and peaceful elections,” he concluded.
