BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman visited several polling centres across the capital on Thursday during the 13th national parliamentary election and referendum.
He cast his vote in the morning at Gulshan Model School and College polling centre before setting out to inspect different centres in the city.
Tarique first visited a polling station in the Mohakhali area. He later toured centres in Sat Tala Slum, Korail Slum, Adamjee Cantonment College, Mirpur DOHS, Mirpur-14, Bhashantek, Mirpur-10, the Technical area, Dhanmondi-27, Dhanmondi-32 and Karwan Bazar, before returning to inspect several centres in Gulshan.
During his visits, he spoke with polling agents and enquired about the overall voting situation. He also exchanged greetings with voters present at the centres. Many voters appeared emotional upon seeing him, and several took photographs with the BNP chief.
He observed the polling environment and discussed with concerned officials whether voting was being conducted in a peaceful, orderly and festive atmosphere. Party leaders and activists accompanied him during the visits.
Expressing satisfaction over the spontaneous participation of voters, Tarique hoped for a free, neutral and acceptable election and urged everyone to exercise their voting rights peacefully.
